The below clips are a couple of tests of the effect from figuring out the ideal way to preset the hat stand in the carpetbag, and the ideal way to remove it (the spring-loaded base was temporarily prevented from tripping).  This effect was eventually made into magic by our fabulous Mary Poppins, Mallory Cooney King, who mastered the illusion on stage.
