The assignment: Duplicate King Triton's trident from a well-worn rental package of props, but make it better - more durable, cleaner lines, and without the layers of hot glue repairs and poorly-incorporated rice lights.  Our performer eventually insisted on using the old light-up trident for the show, but my trident got its moment in the spotlight when King Triton visited an MLB Mariner's game to sing the national anthem and promote our production.
